The biggest GGHA annual event, the Hort&Ag Welcome BBQ, was held on Sep. 25 2017! Over 70 students and faculties attended. New and old students got the chance to meet each other. New GGHA officers were announced during the event. The food included burgers, hot dogs, grilled veggies, salad, beans and fresh fruits. Many thanks to Sakata Seed, the SCOPE Project and the Student Farm, who provided free fresh vegetables and fruits.

The Horticulture and Agronomy Graduate Group at UC Davis held its 2016 Welcome BBQ on Monday, September 26th 5:30PM-7:30 PM in the Wickson Courtyard. The event went off very well because of all the upper classmen coming together to make sure the first year cohort had a nice welcome to the group. Elections had been held the previous week, and new GGHA officers were announced. A fajita style dinner with tri-tip, chicken, and portabella mushrooms for the vegetarians, snacks, and drinks made for a nice dinner. The faculty was put to work manning the bar. Who better to serve you wine than our viticulture professor, Andy Walker? The group would very much like to thank Sakata Seed for allowing us to go pick/glean so many wonderful veggies for our BBQ. We not only had lots of yummy salsa and grilled veggies but also nice squash to decorate the tables and to give away to all of the great volunteers that put in their time.
