Our next Couch Convos meeting will be on this coming Monday (11/16) evening! Feel free to log on to the Zoom meeting around 5:45 to catch up with everyone. The formal meeting will start at 6 pm.

We’ll be continuing our celebration of Native American Heritage month and focus on the UC Davis Land Acknowledgement and the Patwin people. In a slight change of plans, we’ll be doing small groups at this meeting. Ahead of the meeting, please check out this podcast and this article if you have time. We’ll be using them to help guide our conversation about indigenous food sovereignty as well as the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on indigenous communities.

Feel free to submit any questions you may have to the anonymous survey for this month’s CC meetings.

Please contact Evie Smith (evsmith@ucdavis.edu) for the Zoom meeting link.

For those who are just tuning in to Couch Convos, they are biweekly Zoom meetings designed to provide a space for students to discuss and build understanding of issues around systemic racism, anti-racism, and social justice, as well as to develop and execute actionable items that bring about positive change. It is important that couch convos are a space where students can feel comfortable expressing themselves on these issues without fear of judgement from their peers. See attached the document containing the community guidelines for Couch Convos; please familiarize yourself with them before the meeting if you haven't already.
