Yufei Qian, PhD

Yufei researches crop improvement for controlled-environment agriculture, including greenhouses, hydroponics, and indoor vertical farms. With a background in horticulture, plant breeding, and floriculture, she focuses on increasing yield, quality, nutrition, and flavor through environmental optimization (e.g., LED lighting).

She earned a B.S. from the University of California, Davis (2018) and completed M.S. (2021) and Ph.D. (2026) degrees in the Horticulture & Agronomy program at UC Davis. Her graduate work used genomics-assisted breeding to improve yield, flavor, and nutritional profiles of Brassicaceae leafy greens, especially watercress.
